John Walker Lindh, the "American Taliban" who was captured during the invasion of Afghanistan in the fall of 2001, was released this morning from a Federal prison in Indiana.
According to his lawyer, the former Marin County resident, will now live in Virginia while on probation for the next three years.
For a closer look at his case KCBS Radio's Stan Bunger and Susan Leigh Taylor spoke with Karen Greenberg, Director of the Center on National Security at the Fordham law school and author of the book “Rogue Justice: The Making of the Security State” which focused on Lindh.
“The author of a book that focused on Lindh's case told KCBS Radio she does not believe Lindh represents a continuing threat. "There's a difference between what you say and what you do," said Karen Greenberg, director of the Center on National Security at Fordham University Law School.
"But," Greenberg acknowledged, "there is a discomfort" with the notion that Lindh will now be living outside prison.”
