In a recent article written for The Nation, CNS Director Karen Greenberg reports on the ever expanding powers of the executive office, past and present. Greenberg reflects on a book written by Jeremi Suri, exploring the limits of presidential presidential powers. Suri’s book, The Impossible Presidency, documents the growth of executive authority from Lincoln to Obama. Greenberg writes that Trump’s election was the direct result of “frustration over the paralysis created by executive overload.”
