“U.S. Unveils Plan to Punish Russians for Election Hack” NBC News

Robert Windrem, Tracy Connor, Tom Winter, and William M. Arkin report that the U.S. government has enacted sanctions against Russia in response to the alleged Russian hacking of the U.S. election. The sanctions include expelling 35 diplomats, shutting down two Russian owned compounds in the U.S., sanctions against some Russian organizations, and the release of some technical information to help network defenders. Despite president-elect Trump’s dismissal of the Russian hacking allegations, other Republicans intend to push for even stronger sanctions against Russia.
